Magic of Childminding campaign

This campaign across England and Wales celebrates the vital role childminders play in supporting children, families and communities across England and Wales and encouraging more parents to choose childminding as an option for their family.

With spotlights on some incredible childminders and new case studies on the positive impact of childminders in areas such as SEND, family support, caring for babies and many more, we want more families to understand the benefits of choosing a childminder and how childminding settings enrich the lives of families and children.

Campaigning to support childminders under MTD

HMRC has confirmed that the current agreement (BIM52751- Care providers: childminders: expenses) will no longer apply to childminders under Making Tax Digital (MTD). This change affects how childminders claim expenses and report their finances.

Of particular concern is the removal of the blanket 10% wear and tear allowance that childminders can currently claim, replaced by the requirement to claim only for actual repairs and purchases made. We are acutely aware of the significant worry this announcement has caused among the childminding community in the UK we are campaigning for the allowance to remain.

Ofsted inspections

Coram PACEY has been working with Ofsted to support childminders with the renewed inspection framework in England. Ofsted’s overhaul of inspections brought a significant change for education settings, and you can find more information and guidance on our resource page. Among all the other changes childminders have to navigate recently, we are keen to ensure this update will be a positive one that results in improved inspection experiences.

Take our new survey to share your inspection experience. We are collecting feedback from childminders in England who have been inspected by Ofsted under the new inspection framework. This will help us work with Ofsted to monitor childminders’ inspection experiences, improve support for childminders around inspections and ensure the system is fair and consistent. Please only complete this survey if you have had an inspection since the new framework took effect (10 November 2025).

Coram PACEY’s festive campaign

This festive season we are asking for something that cannot be bought or wrapped. We want childminders and nannies to feel valued, respected and have their voices heard. We want families to be able to access quality childcare provision that suits their and their children’s needs. We’re asking you to tell us what is on your festive wishlist this year.

#removetherule – Childminder funding and related children

Coram PACEY is campaigning for childminders in England to be allowed to deliver funded early education entitlements (FEEE) to children who are related to them, in the same way childminders in Wales and those working in nursery settings can. With the expansion of funded childcare in England, even more childminders, families and children are impacted by this unfair rule. Read more about our campaign and join our visual petition to help us call for this rule to be removed.
