Top tips- supporting your well-being/Sïon Sicr-Cefnogi eich llesiant

As part of Social Care Wales’ Well-being Week 2026, Coram PACEY Cymru spoke to childminders across Wales about how they support their wellbeing when working in homebased childcare. Here we have complied a list of their Top Tips for supporting wellbeing.  

  • Set boundaries early and maintain them. Parents won’t honour limits you don’t enforce. 
  • Find (or create) small, safe pockets of community. Lone working is too heavy to carry alone. 
  • Let go of perfectionism — it’s unsustainable and you don’t have to have done everything yesterday. 
  • Honour your fluctuating capacity instead of fighting it. This too shall pass, good and bad. 
  • Write down what you’ve done — it’s evidence that you are doing enough. 
  • Use nature — it’s one of the fastest ways to regulate. 
  • Remember nothing collapses when you drop the non-essentials. 
  • Find techniques to support your wellbeing such as breathing exercises 
  • Make time for yourself and time to socialise, you cannot pour from an empty cup.  
  • Be present in the moment, focus on the here and now and forget the to do lists at least once a day 
  • Go out and about no matter what the weather. You will always feel better for it and there are so many benefits for you and the children

  • Anrhydeddwch eich capasiti niweidiol yn lle brwydro yn ei erbyn. Hyn hefyd a â heibio, y da a’r drwg. 
  • Ysgrifennwch yr hyn rydych chi wedi’i wneud — mae’n dystiolaeth eich bod yn gwneud digon. 
  • Defnyddiwch fyd natur — mae’n un o’r ffyrdd cyflymaf i reoleiddio. 
  • Cofiwch nad yw pethau’n syrthio’n ddarnau os byddwch yn gollwng y pethau diangen. 
  • Dewch o hyd i dechnegau i gefnogi’ch llesiant megis ymarferion anadlu 
  • Gwnewch amser i chi’ch hun ac i gymdeithasu, does dim modd arllwys o gwpan gwag.  
  • Byddwch yn bresennol yn y foment, canolbwyntiwch ar y fan hyn a’r nawr ac anghofiwch y rhestrau o bethau i’w gwneud o leiaf unwaith y dydd 
  • Ewch hwnt ac yma beth bynnag yw’r tywydd. Byddwch bob amser yn teimlo’n well ac mae cynifer o fuddion i chi a’r plant
