Speech, language and communication provision/Darpariaeth lleferydd, iaith a chyfathrebu

Better Communication CIC are working with the Welsh Government to understand the current support for the speech, language and communication skills and needs of all children and young people across Wales.

The purpose of this review is to:

  • support understanding of current provision and need in Wales in relation to the population
  • inform future transformation of system-wide service provision to deliver functional outcomes for all children and young people with speech, language, communication and eating, drinking and swallowing needs across Wales. This will take into consideration existing integrated working across the whole system, promoting collaboration between Health, Education, the local community and voluntary agencies.

They are seeking information from parents, carers and practitioners across the age range, including early years settings, schools, and post-16 provision, to share their experiences of support for speech, language and communication. They will be providing feedback opportunities through a combination of surveys and online focus groups. Stage one is to hear from you via the surveys. They will then arrange a series of focus groups to hear more about local feedback in each local authority area.
