Coram PACEY is delighted to support the review and relaunch of the second edition of Birth to 5 Matters – Guidance by the sector, for the sector.
About the guidance
The Early Years Coalition (of which Coram PACEY is a member) is launching a review of Birth to 5 Matters. Birth to 5 Matters is designed to help providers meet the learning and development requirements in the EYFS. Over the next several months, the Coalition will work with stakeholders to revise and update this guidance. The second edition will take into account new research and updated priorities in order to meet the needs of children today.
Get involved
The Early Years Coalition is now inviting people across the sector to take a survey to inform the review. The guidance is “by the sector, for the sector” and therefore relies on input from all types of practitioner.
The survey (open until 24 November) asks how Birth to 5 Matters supports the full range of EYFS practice. It also asks about areas for improvements and any gaps that currently exist. This might include: understanding and meeting the needs of babies and toddlers, extending principles and practice from early years into Key Stage 1, using digital pedagogies to support young children’s learning and development, citizenship and sustainability.
We will keep Coram PACEY members informed as this work develops, with further opportunities to get involved.
Zara Smith, Writer/Editor at Coram PACEY comments:
“We are working closely with the Early Years Coalition partners to review Birth to Five Matters, ensuring that it provides the necessary support, guidance across all aspects of the EYFS and reflects the unique circumstances of childminders and home-based child carers. To ensure the guidance is inclusive of the whole sector, is important that a range of voices – including those of registered childminders and nannies – participate in the survey and share their views.”
